FTP offers two types of services: Garment development and serial production of small lots of garments. The result of garment development process is garment prototypes. The result of serial production is lots of garments delivered at the client's door.
Garment development is done using mass-customization based procedures supported by Internet teleconference and computer-aided design software. As a consequence, the average time to develop a new garment for a North-American customer is 10 days at a price of 200US per garment put at the client's door (this price includes the fabric cost and the transportation costs by airplane). These delivery delay and price represent huge economies for clients that work with subcontractors requiring 2 months and 400US to develop a new garment.
The production of small lots of garments is done in production cells organized according to just in time principles. These cells include real-time production tracking systems connected to the client's office by Internet. As a consequence, the client can control the production speed and quality of its products during the production process even if it is sit far from FTP factories. FTP average time to make a lot of 200 garments and transport them to the door of a North-American client is between 15 days and 21 days at an average price between 6US and 10US per garment. The short delivery times and small production lots allowed by FTP represent huge economies for the clients that work with subcontractors accepting lots greater than 5000 garments and requiring delivery times between 3 months to 6 months.
